Do you believe in Santa Claus?

I went to a preview screening of Rare Exports recently. I have been eagerly awaiting this films release since watching the short films of the same name on youtube. I was definitely not disappointed.

Rare Exports is a cute, funny, clever and creepy film. This cautionary Christmas tale puts a black comedic spin on the story of the 'real' Santa Claus. While it's not a horror film it does have some tense moments. It is beautifully filmed, the Finnish landscape is spectacular. All the characters are extremely likeable. Jorma Tommila is fantastic as the rough and rugged but loving father Rauno. Onni Tommila is wise and adorable as his son Pietari.

I loved every moment of this film. It is well paced, subtle and engaging. Rare Exports is both dark and delightful filled with evil mischief and the spirit of Christmas. A great combination.
