"For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know."
"A young girl (Baby Doll) is locked away in a mental asylum by her abusive stepfather where she will undergo a lobotomy in five days time. Faced with unimaginable odds, she retreats to a fantastical world in her imagination where she and four other female inmates at the asylum, plot to escape the facility. The lines between reality and fantasy blur as Baby Doll and her four companions, as well as a mysterious guide, fight to retrieve the five items they need that will allow them to break free from their captors before it's too late..."
Lots of bad reviews for this. Fortunately most of these have demonstrated little understanding of the more complex themes behind the movie and have focussed superficially on the CGI and wardrobe. It is a shame because I loved it. The visuals and soundtrack are impressive and I loved the girls. You'll never find me complaining about pretty girls kicking bad guy butt. However the movie is much more than that... But, it is up to you to make up your own mind. Just watch the movie first before you decide.
"Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us... and at the same time sings that we'll never die? Who teaches us what's real... and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us... and who holds the key that can set us free? It's you. You have all the weapons you need. Now fight!"
By the way I met Abbie Cornish at the premiere and she was REALLY cool and uber gorgeous. I'm renting Candy tonight. xx.
